Backyard Sod Replacement in DFW
A bare, root-bound backyard was tilled flat and re-sodded corner to corner, right up to the fence line and around the tree at the center of the yard. It went from dirt to a lawn the family could actually use.
What the yard needed
This backyard had lost its grass entirely. A single tree covers most of it, and between the shade, the surface roots, and the traffic pattern worn between the patio and the back gate, there was nothing left to save. The soil had gone hard enough that rain sat on top of it instead of soaking in.
What we did
We cleared and tilled the entire yard down to workable soil, broke up the compaction, and floated the grade smooth around the tree and out to the fence. Fresh sod went down edge to edge, cut around the tree base, the gas meter, and the patio edge. The pieces get butted tight and staggered so the seams disappear as the lawn knits together rather than leaving a visible grid.
The result
Solid green from fence to fence, including the shaded side that had been bare the longest. The tree still owns the middle of the yard, so the watering plan we left accounts for the fact that turf under a canopy competes with the tree for every drop.
