DFW Landscaping Pricing

How much does landscaping
cost in DFW?

Honest ranges from a 15-year DFW crew. We don't publish a flat price list because no two yards are the same. We do publish what each service typically runs, what drives the price up or down, and a real recent example for each band.

Quick Answer (DFW Averages)
  • Sod install: $1,200 – $14,000+ depending on yard size, grass type, prep, and access.
  • Synthetic turf: $8 – $17 per square foot installed. Premium pet-rated or putting greens up to $25/sq ft.
  • Paver patio: $18 – $28 per square foot installed for mid-grade pavers.
  • Wood privacy fence: $60 – $90 per linear foot installed for a 6-foot fence. Gates and tear-out are listed separately.
  • Christmas lights: Approximately $5 – $8 per linear foot of roofline. Final pricing follows the measured scope; tree wraps and accents are quoted separately.

These are honest ranges, not anchor pricing. Your exact number depends on site conditions we can only see on-site.

Sod Installation Cost

Service Details

Sod cost in DFW depends on grass type, square footage, prep needs, and how much old turf has to come out. Bermuda is the price floor. Zoysia and St. Augustine cost more per pallet. Steep grading, dead grass haul-away, and irrigation tweaks all move the number.

Small yard (under 1,500 sq ft, light prep)

$1,200 – $2,400

Bermuda sod, minimal grading, dead grass haul-away.

Real example: A 1,200 sq ft Carrollton front yard, full Bermuda replacement, prep + install + haul: around $1,650.

Mid-size yard (1,500 – 4,000 sq ft, standard prep)

$2,800 – $6,500

Bermuda or Zoysia. Standard grading. May include sprinkler tweaks.

Real example: A 3,200 sq ft Plano back yard, Palisades Zoysia, soil amendment, sprinkler head adjustment: around $4,800.

Large yard (over 4,000 sq ft, full reset)

$6,500 – $14,000+

Premium grass type, heavy grading, irrigation work, full haul-away.

Real example: A 7,500 sq ft Frisco estate lot, full St. Augustine reset with grading and tree-ring repair: around $11,200.

What Moves The Price
  • ·Grass type: Bermuda is the baseline. Zoysia adds ~$0.30 – $0.50/sq ft. St. Augustine adds ~$0.45 – $0.70/sq ft.
  • ·Prep work: dead grass haul-away, grading for proper drainage, tilling clay soil. Heavy prep can add 20-40%.
  • ·Access: rear-yard installs that need wheelbarrowing pallets through a side gate cost more than driveway-adjacent jobs.
  • ·Sprinkler adjustments: existing heads usually need re-leveling after grading. Major irrigation rework is quoted separately.
  • ·Time of year: Fall (Oct–Nov) and late winter (Feb–March) tend to have better availability and slightly lower pricing than peak spring.

Synthetic Turf Installation Cost

Synthetic turf is a higher-ticket investment that pays for itself in 4-7 years vs. ongoing sod replacement, water, and mowing. Cost is per square foot, all-in. The two biggest swings: turf brand/quality and how much base prep your yard needs.

Small area (under 500 sq ft, courtyard / pet run)

$4,000 – $8,500

$8 – $17/sq ft. Standard turf, base prep, infill, nailed-down seams.

Real example: A 350 sq ft Coppell pet run with premium pet-rated turf and antimicrobial infill: around $5,200.

Mid-size yard (500 – 1,500 sq ft, full back yard)

$6,500 – $22,000

$10 – $15/sq ft. Mid-tier turf with cooling infill. Standard prep.

Real example: A 1,100 sq ft Highland Park back yard with cooling-infill premium turf: around $14,800.

Large install (over 1,500 sq ft, putting green / sport)

$22,000 – $60,000+

$12 – $25/sq ft. Top-tier turf, custom shapes, drainage engineering.

Real example: A 2,400 sq ft Southlake back yard with putting green, chipping fringe, drainage system: around $42,000.

What Moves The Price
  • ·Turf grade: standard landscape turf is $4-7/sq ft material cost. Premium pet-rated, cooling-infill, or putting-green turf runs $9-14/sq ft material cost.
  • ·Base prep: clay soil + drainage needs add the most variable cost. A flat, well-drained yard preps quickly. A sloped, clay-heavy yard needs more excavation and base material.
  • ·Demolition: existing concrete, root systems, or thick dead grass extends the prep day.
  • ·Seam count: irregular shapes and small areas have more seams per square foot, so per-sq-ft pricing is higher.
  • ·Specialty features: putting greens, custom logos, in-fill cooling systems, drainage assists all add cost on top of base install.

Paver Patios & Walkways Cost

Service Details

Hardscape pricing is the most variable category. Material, square footage, complexity, demolition needs, and engineering all swing the price. We always estimate hardscape on-site after walking the project.

Paver patio (small to mid-size)

$3,800 – $14,000

$18 – $28/sq ft installed. Mid-grade concrete pavers, base, edging, sand-set.

Real example: A 400 sq ft Carrollton paver patio with stone-edged border: around $11,500.

Flagstone walkway (custom natural stone)

$22 – $40 per sq ft installed

Texas flagstone, base prep, sand-set, mortared joints where specified.

Real example: A 120-foot flagstone walkway from drive to back patio in Plano: around $6,800.

What Moves The Price
  • ·Material: stamped concrete is the floor, mid-grade concrete pavers next, then travertine and natural flagstone at the top.
  • ·Demolition: removing an old patio or deck adds $2-6/sq ft.
  • ·Complexity: multi-level patios, custom inlays, integrated lighting — all add to the per-foot price.
  • ·Grade and drainage: sloped sites need engineering. Drainage tile, French drains, or sub-base reinforcement add cost.
  • ·Permits: city of Dallas, HP/UP, Southlake, and some Frisco neighborhoods require permits for larger installs. Permit prep is included in our quote.

Fencing Cost

Service Details

Fences are priced by the linear foot. Cost is driven by material, height, style, and how much old fence and grading the line needs.

6-foot wood privacy fence

$60 – $90 per linear foot installed

Cedar or treated pine, including board-on-board. Final quote depends on measured footage, gates, slope, and tear-out.

Real example: Illustrative calculation: 150 feet × $60–$90 = $9,000–$13,500 before gates. This is not a completed-job price.

Vinyl and chain link

Quoted after an on-site measure

Material choice, height, and the number of gates and corners set the price.

Real example: Ask for footage, gates, and tear-out to be listed separately in the written quote.

What Moves The Price
  • ·Linear footage: the single biggest input. We measure during the on-site visit.
  • ·Style and height: board-on-board, caps, trim, and kickboards add to the per-foot price.
  • ·Tear-out: removing and hauling off an old fence is a separate line item.
  • ·Gates, corners, and slope: each is factored into the quote up front.

Christmas Light Installation Cost

Service Details

All-in price covers design, commercial-grade LED C9 lights, install, dusk-to-dawn timer, one mid-season service visit, and January takedown. The lights are yours to keep after takedown. Cost is driven primarily by linear footage of roofline, story count, and tree wraps.

Roofline lighting, planning estimate

Approximately $5 – $8 per linear foot

Final quote depends on measured footage, height, access, and display scope.

Real example: Illustrative calculation: 180 feet × $5–$8 = $900–$1,440 before separately quoted tree wraps or accents. This is not a completed-job price.

Tree wraps, columns, and estate displays

Quoted after an on-site design walk

Canopy wraps, garland, pathways, height, and access determine the additional scope.

Real example: Ask for roofline footage and each optional feature to be listed separately in the written quote.

What Moves The Price
  • ·Linear footage of roofline: the single biggest input. We measure during the on-site visit.
  • ·Height and access: taller rooflines and difficult access change the labor and equipment needed.
  • ·Tree wraps: a single trunk wrap is cheap. Full canopy wraps on mature oaks add real cost.
  • ·Bed wash, garland, columns, wreaths, pathway lighting: each adds an optional line item to the quote.
  • ·Timing: We book holiday installs through December 15. The earlier you book, the more install dates you have to choose from. Availability and final price are confirmed in the quote.

Why we still estimate on-site.

Every yard has hidden cost drivers: clay-soil drainage, buried sprinkler heads, the existing irrigation controller's zone map, slope, root systems under planned hardscape, HOA color and material rules. Most of those we can't see from the curb and definitely can't see from a satellite photo.

A free on-site visit gives you a fixed-price written quote, with no obligation. The ranges above are the right ballpark. The on-site visit is where the exact number comes from.

Pricing Questions

Pricing FAQ.

Why don't you just publish a price list?

Two lawns the same square footage can quote 50% apart depending on prep, access, grass type, and add-ons. A published flat price would either be too high for simple jobs (so we lose customers who could afford us) or too low for complex jobs (so we lose money or have to upcharge on-site, which feels like a bait-and-switch). The ranges on this page are honest. The on-site visit gives you an exact number.

Are estimates free?

Yes. Every on-site estimate is free with no obligation. We walk the property, talk through what you want, measure, and email you a fixed-price quote.

Do you offer financing?

For larger projects ($5,000+) we can connect you with a financing partner who offers 0% interest for 12 months and longer terms. Available for sod, turf, hardscape, and outdoor-kitchen builds.

How firm is the quote?

The quote is fixed unless something we couldn't see from the surface comes up mid-job (buried concrete, unexpected drainage issue, hidden tree-root system). Anything like that we stop, show you, and agree on a change order before continuing. No surprise charges at the end.

Do you price-match competitors?

No. Cheaper quotes usually mean cheaper materials, a smaller crew, an uninsured operator, or scope cuts that show up later. We price for the quality of work we want to put our name on. If price is the only factor, there are cheaper landscapers in DFW. If quality, accountability, and a 15-year track record matter, our pricing fits.

Can I see a real customer quote example?

Yes — the "example" lines in each section above are actual recent jobs (anonymized). On the on-site visit we walk you through how the math works for your specific yard so there are no surprises.
