From Cleared Lot to Finished Front Yard
This front yard was a construction site: felled trees, cut stumps, broken concrete, and bare dirt across the whole lot. We cleared and hauled all of it, then rebuilt the yard as one piece with fresh sod, a paver walkway to the porch, mulched beds along the drive, and new shrubs at the foundation.
What the yard needed
Several large trees had come down across the front of the property and were still lying where they fell, along with the stumps, cut rounds, brush piles, scrap lumber, broken concrete, and a set of old appliances stacked by the drive. Under all of it the ground was rutted bare dirt with patches of weeds. There was no walkway to the porch and no bed line anywhere. The house itself had just been finished, so the yard was the last thing standing between it and looking lived in.
What we did
Clearing came first and it was the bulk of the work: trunks bucked and hauled, stumps taken out, brush and debris removed, and the junk along the driveway cleared off the property. Then we regraded the whole lot flat and true to the walks on both sides. A run of large-format pavers set in dark gravel makes the path from the driveway to the porch, and the same dark material carries down the property line as a mulched bed against the neighboring fence. Shrubs went in tight along the foundation. Sod went down last, wall to wall across the yard, cut clean to the sidewalk, the driveway, the walkway, and both fence lines.
The result
A finished front yard on a lot that had nothing usable on it. The overhead shot shows how tight the sod seams and the walkway edges landed. The grass reads tan rather than green in these photos because it was installed dormant in winter, which is normal and is the point: dormant sod roots through the cool months and greens up on its own when soil temperatures come back in spring.
